Tennengau region

Tennengau holiday region covers and area 10-30 km south of the world heritage city Salzburg – Mozart’s home town. Experience sports and fun, adventure and challenge, relaxation and well-being, culture and nature with a variety of offers in and around the Celtic city of Hallein.

Tennengau is a region characterised by three distinct landscapes. There’s the alpine pasture-rich Osterhorn Group in the north, the wild and rugged Gosaukamm, and the karst massif of the Tennengebirge in the south. Hikers enjoy green and pleasant alpine pastures, such as the Postalm, Trattbergalm and Spielbergalm, and marvel at the natural magnificence of the Salzachöfen gorge or the 75-m-high Golling waterfall.

Sporty and active in the Tennengau region

Its central location enables the Tennengau area to connect up with biking networks in the Salzkammergut, Berchtesgaden and Salzburger Sportwelt regions, to offer around 3,000 km of cycling on approximately 150 routes.

Leisure activities in summer
Look forward to cycling and mountain biking tours. Many, mostly flat bike paths, lead you to the most beautiful natural spectacles of the region. Some Tennengau communities lie directly on the Tauern Cycle Path. In addition, 20 mountain bike trails in the Lammertal and Salzachtal offer almost unlimited sporting challenges.

Leisure activities in winter
In winter, there are lots of opportunities for fun on the ski slopes of the Tennengau region, where many of the best ski slopes and areas in the province of Salzburg can be found within a radius of 50km. There’s great variety and something for everyone, from manageably-sized family-friendly ski resorts to larger ski areas efficiently accommodating thousands of guests!

Tradition and customs

Tradition and customs are valued profoundly in the Tennengau region. Numerous events throughout the year offer opportunities to take home very special memories from your stay.

Hallein – City of culture
